Sandy-land grain is grown on mechanically levelled dunes inside the Horqin sandy land at 42°N, irrigated with weakly alkaline water from 70 metres underground. The primitive, pollution-free environment and large day-night temperature differences produce smaller, denser, more nutrient-concentrated oat, rice and millet.
